Mace wins £150m Stansted Airport terminal

Mace has been appointed as the main contractor for London Stansted’s new £150m arrivals terminal.

A statement from the airport released today said that work on the 39,000 sq m terminal is due to start in the spring and is scheduled for completion in autumn 2020.

The terminal is the flagship project in the airport’s £600m revamp.

London Stansted chief executive Ken O’Toole said: “Mace has a great track record of delivering major projects like this on time, on budget and to the highest quality.”

Mace chief operating officer for construction Gareth Lewis said: “Mace has a long heritage in the safe and successful delivery of major aviation projects across the world.”

An animation has been released today showing what the airport will look like after the work is complete.

Last month Stansted appointed Gerry Whyte as delivery director for airport’s £600m expansion.

The former Laing O’Rourke project leader will be responsible for overseeing and delivering plans including the new arrivals terminal.
