Mace withdraws its People Group recruitment arm to Brighton base

MACE'S recruitment division is closing its London office as part of a restructuring.

The move will see the business ? called People Group ? concentrate operations at its original base in Brighton.

Five people will lose their jobs as staff numbers are cut down to 20.

People Group was set up in 2004 to act as an in-house construction and property recruitment consultancy to find workers to fill vacancies that arose at the company.

Managing director Mike Jones quit the firm last October and the company is now under the control of Jonathan Yurtsever, who is currently banned from becoming a company director until 2013 following the collapse of another recruitment company of which he was a director.

People Group spokesman Ian Parker said: 'The business is being repositioned to focus on its core activities and its Brighton base.

'People has grown steadily in profile and capacity and now handles the accounts of several major construction and property service providers ? as well as meeting the recruitment and executive search needs of Mace itself.'
