Man crushed under dump truck

The Metropolitan Police and Health and Safety Executive are investigating the death of a man who was crushed underneath a dump truck during his first day on site.

Andrew Ferrie was working on a dumper truck vehicle between the cab and its raised loading bed when the two-tonne bed fell on him. Police believe he died instantly.

The accident occured on 17 March at the Kimpton Industrial Estate.

While police have refused to name the firm, it is understood he had been working for them for some months.
