Man in court for bus stabbing murder

A 20-year-old man will appear in court today charged with the murder of a bus passenger who was stabbed after confronting a man who threw chips at his girlfriend.
Anthony Leon Joseph, 20, of Theseus Walk, Islington, north London, is accused of killing Richard Whelan.

Mr Whelan, 28, from Kentish Town, north London, was stabbed several times on the top deck of a No 43 bus as he made his way home from a night out in Islington on July 29.
