Mariners stadium one step closer

Grimsby Town Football Club has confirmed that developer Castlemore Securities will work on the detailed planning application for its £81 million stadium.

The structure will be for mixed-use and include retail, community and commercial spaces.

GTFC chairman John Fenty told the Grimsby Telegraph: “We've fought very, very hard to get to this stage and linking with a developer of this ilk has made us hugely positive for this project.”

It is now hoped a detailed planning permission application will be submitted later this year. The stadium is due to open on land near Great Coates in August 2011.
