Material costs add to machine prices

Manufacturers have announced further price rises because of high competition for commodities like specialist steel.

Compaction specialist Bomag blamed a 3 per cent rise across all its equipment on “intensified competition for steel and certain components”. This price rise also included higher energy and transport costs, the German firm said.
Sales and marketing manager Jorg Unger said: “These cost increases can no longer be offset fully by optimisation processes and internal savings.”
