Maxxiom fined

Caerphilly-based plant hire firm Maxxiom has been fined £180,000 and ordered to pay nearly £20,000 costs after pleading guilty to three breaches of health and safety legislation at Newport Crown Court last week.

The fine follows the death of one of its employees, maintenance fitter Ernest Berry, who was crushed by a bucket attached to the skid steer loader he was working with last July.
