McGuinness blames Government for IRA withdrawal

Sinn Fein chief negotiator Martin McGuinness blamed the British and Irish Governments today for the IRA's decision to withdraw its offer to decommission all its weapons.
He said he saw the IRA's decision as a 'direct consequence' of the 'retrograde stance' of the two governments since the £26.5 million Northern Bank robbery was blamed on the IRA.

Mr McGuinness said: 'The two governments have embarked on a course of confrontation with republicans and I think they are engaged in the sterile politics of the blame game without any consideration of the consequences.'
