McInerney to expand UK housebuilding work

Irish house builder McInerney gave an upbeat trading statement today and said it is planning to increase the amount of homes it builds in the UK.

The company said it had completed 1,400 private housing deals in the UK in the year ending December 2007, up from 980 in the previous 12 months. It also completed another 1,014 deals in Ireland and Spain.

The company said: “We aim to again achieve a significant volume increase in our homes business in 2008.

“The fundamentals driving UK housing demand remain strong and with the softening interest rate climate, should be favourable to our growth plans in the UK in 2008.”

McInerney said it expected profit to be in line with predictions. Full year results will be announced on 6 March.
