McLean wins Star Wars

CONTRACTS - SALFORD

HOUSE builder David McLean has taken a second scheme in Salford Quays to bring its workload there to £48 million.

The latest contract for Manchester developer Millennium Estates is called Erie Basin and will feature two main blocks, one 10 storeys and the other 20.

The smaller building, designed by Broadway Malyan, has been based on the design of a vehicle from the 1977 film Star Wars.Work starts next month and finishes in 2007.

David McLean took over from Carillion on another £24 million apartment complex at Salford Quays for City Loft Developments.
