MD steps down from recruitment division

NEWS

THE MANAGING director of Mace's new recruitment division has quit the company.

Mike Jones has resigned from the business, called People, a year after it was formed.

The company is now under the control of chairman Jonathan Yur tsever, whose role has been expanded to include chief executive. Mace declined to comment on the reason why Mr Jones left.

People was set up last September to act as an in-house construction and property recruitment consultancy to find workers to fill vacancies at the expanding contractor.

Mace has a majority stake in People but the business also works for other contractors from its Brighton head office.

One rival firm said: 'The way People operates has got up the noses of a lot of the industry.

'There have been a lot of rumours going around that they have headhunted people going up against Mace in bidding contests to make it easier for them to win work.' A Mace spokeswoman denied the allegations.
