Mercedes trucks join Norweb fleet

NORWEB, the Manchester-based electricity company, has added five Mercedes Benz 1820 AK 17 tonners (left) to its truck fleet.

The 4.2 m wheelbase trucks have four-wheel drive and are fitted with heavy-duty aluminium dropside bodies, built by BradeLeigh Products of West Bromwich.

A Hiab 125-2 crane is mounted at the rear of each truck. The crane is equipped with an earth auger and man-ipulator for placing poles.

A two-way hydraulic power take-off enables the use of a hydraulic anchor system and an on-board 5 tonne hydraulic winch which pulls through conductor wire.
