Mersey fight

Merseytravel has vowed to fight on despite defeat last week in the High Court, which rejected its appeal against the Government's refusal to fund the £300 million Merseytram light rail scheme. Mr Justice Sullivan threw out all three grounds of Merseytravel's appeal and refused the transport authority leave to appeal. But Merseytravel will now approach the Court of Appeal directly in a bid to overturn the Department of Transport's decision.
