Miller bags £40m shopping centre revamp

Miller Construction has bagged a £40 million deal to redevelop Altrincham's Stamford Centre in Cheshire for Park Lane Estates.
The contractor beat rivals Balfour Beatty, Kier, Laing O'Rourke and Mowlem to win the deal.

Work will cover revamping the existing 19,000 sq m centre, building an additional 13,600 sq m of new retail space and construction of a new 740 space car park.

Demolition of the centre's existing multi-storey car park will also come under the three year deal.

The project will be split into three phases. Work on the first phase is set to start in mid October with completion due by autumn 2006.
