Morgan Ashurst in £6.8m school win

Morgan Ashurst has been appointed construction partner for the £6.8 million development of St Thomas Primary School in Manchester, for Manchester City Council.

The 2,500 sq ft two-storey school will be built on ‘stilts,’ in order to minimise the one in 100 year risk of flooding at the site. The main building comprises a steel frame with a high-tech aluminium and membrane roof.

Morgan Ashurst will also create a new library, ICT room, classrooms, fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, recreation hall with a sprung floor and a staff room.

St Thomas Primary School is the eighth constructed by Morgan Ashurst under Manchester City Council’s £50 million Framework 1 agreement.

Work is expected to be completed in August 2009.
