Morgan Sindall will become a major force in commercial office construction in the capital within two years, the company’s London managing director Peter Jacobs has said.
The former Lend Lease director said that Morgan Sindall - which has traditionally avoided the central London construction market - would grow to take on the biggest, most prestigious projects within the next two to three years.
The London unit was established 15 months ago and is presently working on contracts in the £15-40 million range.
Mr Jacobs said: “We currently have five active sites in our London business and we are looking to grow rapidly and substantially.
“I want us to grow so we can compete on the big prestige projects in the commercial market. We also have a strong track record in student accommodation and tertiary Education and we expect to pick up other education work.”
Mr Jacobs’ role was recently expanded to incorporate some of the responsibilities of departed southern director Stephen Scard, who left the company as part of a restructure.
In a trading update released last week, the Morgan Sindall Group said that its forward order book now stands at £3.3 billion.
