Mother of all shopping centres just got bigger

DARTFORD Borough Council has granted planning permission for a 5,200 sq m extension to the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent. It will be used as an exhibition and events venue.

The project will be built by Lend Lease, which manages and operates the centre, and the proposals include reconfiguring existing areas of the water circus and extending food and catering facilities.

The development will be integrated into the existing centre and will provide an outof-town venue for events and concerts.

Construction is expected to start in mid-2007, with completion planned by late 2008.
