Mowlem hands over delayed Spinnaker Tower

Mowlem has handed over the £35 million Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth after problems with a faulty lift saw it bust the latest deadline.
Mowlem was due to hand over the finished attraction to Heritage - the operator - last week but the ceremony had to be cancelled.

After a string of delays the project finished £10 million over budget. The tower was originally due to open last summer, but the date was pushed backed to May this year and then the end of August.

Mowlem was appointed by client Portsmouth City Council in November 2000.
