Mulalley wins £20m home improvement contract

Mulalley has won a £20 million framework deal to improve council homes in east London for Newham Homes part of a £150 million programme.

The value of the contract to Mulalley is £20 million. Other contractors appointed include Apollo and Mansell.

The programme encompasses 1,500 homes, mainly built pre-1940. The works will involve a variety of modernisation including heating, plumbing and electrical systems, replacement of external decorations and alterations to internal layouts and extensions.

Newham Homes, a company set up by Newham Council to manage and improve its housing stock, has a multi-million pound investment programme to improve Newham's council housing.

It covers building structures, kitchen and bathroom facilities, and environmental and security works. This is planned to meet the Government’s official 'Decent Homes' standard by 2010 but to go beyond it by providing ‘Modern Homes’.
