Multiplex poaches another top manager

MULTIPLEX has raided another rival for managers to cope with its growing workload.

InteriorExterior project director Flan McNamara is the latest high-profile name to join the Australian contractor.

The firm has recruited extensively recently.Martin Tidd joined Multiplex from Wates as managing director at the end of last year.

Now the ambitious firm has hired Mr McNamara, who works for Exterior's building division, to head up the team that will construct its £340 million hospital in Peterborough under the Private Finance Initiative.

Mr McNamara is due to join the firm next month as construction director. He will be in charge of building a 760-bed hospital, a mental health centre and multistorey car park.The work is due to start next year and finish in 2010.

The Irishman is highly-regarded at Exterior, where he was project manager on its £110 million Albion Riverside residential project at Battersea in south London.

One recruitment specialist said: 'Multiplex is getting to be a bigger and bigger presence in this country.

'It has got a lot of work in the pipeline so I think we'll be seeing still more names joining them.'
