Muse submits £220m Blackpool plans

Muse Developments has submitted a planning application for the £220 million Talbot Gateway scheme to transform Blackpool.

The proposed mixed-use development would regenerate the north-eastern part of the town, around Blackpool North Station and Talbot Road.

It comprises 85,000 sq m of new office and business space as well as a major food superstore, hotels, shops, cafes and restaurants.

The proposals also include new headquarters offices for Blackpool Borough Council.

Mike Horner, regional director at Muse, said: “Our development will deliver huge, transformational change to this part of Blackpool.

“The creation of a new vibrant commercial district around the train station, and a new transport interchange, with supporting retail and leisure facilities as well as vast improvements to the public realm, will create hundreds of new jobs and attract new investors and occupiers to the town.”

Muse is aiming to start on site in 2011, subject to planning permission.

The scheme will be delivered in partnership with Blackpool Council, ReBlackpool and the North West Development Agency.
