National Investment Corporation issues tenders for Abu Dhabi Fairmont hotel

The National Investment Corporation has invited selected companies to bid by late January for the main construction package for the Fairmont hotel and serviced apartments development in Abu Dhabi.

The prospective bidders include the local Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, Germany's Alpine Bau, the local/Lebanese Arabian Construction Company (ACC), the local Arabtec Construction, Germany's Bilfinger & Berger, Australia's Multiplex, UK-based Laing O'Rourke, Turkey's Nurol and the local/Belgian Six Construct Abu Dhabi.

The project covers an area of 155,000 square metres.

The building works include a basement floor, a 40-floor hotel tower, a 35-floor serviced apartments tower, and associated facilities and landscaping.

The total-built-up area is 198,000 sq m.

The hotel will have about 750 rooms and the residential tower will have 200 apartments.

The National Investment Corporation expects the work to be complete by the end of 2010.

The UK's EC Harris is the project manager.

The local Dewan Architects & Engineers is the consultant (MEED 25:11:08).
