Network Rail appoints new Scottish director

Network Rail has appointed Ron McAulay to the newly-created post of director for Scotland.
Mr McAulay is promoted from the post of Scottish route director. He will oversee all the not-for-dividend operator's activities in Scotland and act as the senior contact with the Scottish Executive.

He will report directly to Network Rail deputy chief executive Iain Coucher.

The creation of the post follows changes past under the Railway Act, which devolved responsibilities for specifying railway outputs and upgrades to the Scottish Executive.
