New campaign on safer design

The Construction Industry Council will launch its Safety in Design to improve the competency of designers this week.
SiD will provide minimum standards of knowledge and competence for designers so that they can design with health and safety in mind.

The SiD Learning Aims and Standards of Competence include the knowledge and competence needed to design buildings and structures than can be not only safely built, but also safely used and maintained.

WS Atkins chief executive Keith Clarke will help launch SiD at the Royal Institute of British Architects tomorrow.

Speakers at the launch will also include CIC chairman Stuart Henderson and Tim Gough, director of SiD.
