New chief exec for Newham

Newham Homes Board has appointed the former director of housing for Southwark to head up its operations.

Michael Irvine has thirty years of experience in housing with previous roles as interim chief executive of Lewisham Homes and director of housing for Leicester City Council.

Newham Homes manages over 20,000 properties on behalf of Newham Council and plans to spend £240 million on meeting the Dovernment's Decent Homes targets, over the next three years.

Newham Homes Board chair Richard Gooding said: "Michael will bring inspirational leadership and strategic vision to help Newham Homes to achieve three stars in next year's Audit Commission inspection."
