New chief for NI Roads Service

Geoff Allister has been appointed the new chief executive of the Northern Ireland Roads Service.

He will be responsible for the agency, which has a budget of around £340 million and is responsible for the management, maintenance and development of 25,000km of public roads in Northern Ireland, at a strategic level.

Mr Allister has been a director of the agency since 2001 and is also junior vice president of the Institution of Highways & Transportation.
