New civic centre for Plymouth

Plymouth City Council has approved plans to build a new civic centre alongside a new bus and coach station at Bretonside.

The exisiting building was listed by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport in June after the council announced a partnership with developer Rok to explore redevelopment options for the site and provide new council accomodation elsewhere.

The Council is seeking to overturn the decision to list the building. The plans eman that the exisiting civic centre site will be sold, with the money raised going towards the new building at Bretonside.

The redevelopment of the civic site will also include a new central library.
