New Costain civils chief

ROGER Jones is taking up the reins as new managing director of Costain Civil Engineering.

He succeeds George May, who left the firm in June before joining Norwest Holst in September.

Mr Jones will oversee projects worth £200 million including the Newbury bypass, the M5 bridge widening at Avonmouth and the Cardiff Bay Barrage.

He joined Costain in 1968 as a site agent and then became contracts manager in 1980 before graduating to contracts director.
