New fears over deadly hospital bug

Hospitals are not doing enough to prevent the spread of a killer bug, the Government's health watchdog warned today.
More than a third of healthcare trusts do not routinely follow Government guidelines on the management of deadly infection Clostridium difficile, which killed 934 patients last year.

The Healthcare Commission described the revelation from 118 out of 173 directors of infection prevention and control at trusts in England as 'deeply worrying'.
