New vocational college opens in Basildon

A new engineering and construction vocational training college in Basildon, Essex has opened its doors to students.

Over the next three years the £5.3 million Prospect College aims to ensure that 240 people gain a level 2 National Vocational Qualification. So far 200 apprentices have signed up.

Deputy chair of the East of England Development Agency George Kieffer said: “It will raise the skills and aspirations of local people in one of the most deprived wards in the country and in the Thames Gateway South Essex area, which is at the heart of the largest regeneration programme in Europe.
