New York building collapses

A partially-constructed building collapsed in New York today, injuring at least four people.
More than 100 firefighters attended the scene on Manhattan's Upper West Side and were searching for people trapped in the rubble.

A New York Fire Department spokesman said: 'At this stage we don' t know whether it was being constructed or demolished.

'There was a lot of scaffolding involved but we are still trying to determine what has happened and whether there is anyone trapped under the rubble.'

Several underground stations in the area were closed.
