NICE GLASS: Window cleaners are using hydraulic lifts to help keep Europe's biggest greenhouse in shape. Construction manager Schal is overseeing work at the £43 million National Botanic Gardens of Wales, near Carmarthen. Four cleaners are working their way through 4,500 sq m of glass and have washed and dried nearly half of the 1,000 panes during the past fortnight. The outside of the dome is said to be self cleaning thanks to a special lamination on the glass.
