No surprise that CITB college shut

LETTERS

Sir, Two years ago you published my letter pointing out that training providers for the Construction Industry Scaffold Record System had not been issued with up-to-date instructor notes since 1989.

Since then no new notes have been issued.

The CITB is well aware of this fact yet it is still allowing its own instructors and training centres to use out-of-date training notes.

So it did not surprise me to read that the CITB's Bircham Newton training was suspended for a week ('Industry college fails inspection', News, February 9).

I believe the CITB National Specialist Team should be held responsible for this as they have around 30 staff who mostly work from home, yet are paid Hollywood-style money out of the contractors' levy.
