No to Fluor

The Government has rejected a £400 million bid from US conglomerate Fluor for Britain's main nuclear decommissioning business, the British Nuclear Group. The American company made an unsolicited bid for BNG, part of BNFL, which was then assessed by the Government and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. Officials from the Treasu ry and the Department for Trade and Industry agreed BNFL would not be allowed to sell the entire subsidiary to Fluor. BNFL will be allowed to sell BNG's project services arm, worth around £100 million, at a later date.
