North London Wimpey takes Edmonton job

WIMPEY is lined up as contractor on an £80 million scheme to regenerate Edmonton town centre in north London.

The clients are two housing associations - London & Quadrant and Metropolitan Housing Trust. E C Harris will also work on the project after beating off bids from four rivals to clinch the role of employer's agent and cost consultant.

The two clients are in discussions with tenants and local businesses, but hope that Wimpey will be able to start on site early in the New Year.

The job comprises revamping 600 existing houses and Edmon-ton shopping centre, and the construction of a further 700 homes.
