Norwest leads roads chase

NORWEST Holst is favourite to land a £12 million transport package in the West Midlands.

The team is believed to have left behind bids from Birse, Galliford Try, Osborne and Mowlem for the job from Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council.

Proposals include improving the town's ring road, revamping bus facilities, building a cycle network and improving town centre layouts.

The Department of Transport, which is bankrolling the scheme, has still to release the funding but if it does work will start this summer and last two years.
