Nottingham Uni offers up second construction contract in a week

The University of Nottingham has issued its second multi-million pound contract notice in the space of a week, this time for a £6.5 million student bar and amenities building.

Last week the university said it is seeking a contractor for a new £11.5m library on the campus.

The university also wants a new three-storey amenities building, with a gross internal area of 4 000 m², to be finished before early August 2014.

It will include a bar and dining hall zones but also provide accommodation for faith areas, student services, graduates, undergraduates and general administration, along with two plant rooms on the third storey.

The project will be required to achieve BREEAM Excellent rating.

The plan is to invite tenders based on RIBA Stage E information. It is currently proposed that the architect and the civil and structural engineers are novated to the appointed building contractor. The remainder of the consultants will be retained to the University of Nottingham.

The deadline for receipt of requests for documents is 25 January 2013.
