Notts plans schoolwork of £135m

CONTRACTS - EDUCATION

NOTTINGHAM City Council has submitted its plans to the Government in the second wave of the Building Schools for the Future programme.

The scheme, expected to cost around £135 million, will involve building three new academies, three new secondary schools and a new special school as well as redeveloping three secondary schools.

There are plans to redevelop a further half dozen schools in a future wave.

Expressions of interest will be invited from contractors in October when the work will go out for prequalification in the Official Journal.

A contractor will be appointed in 2007 with construction work due to start in 2008.
