Nuttall turnover nears £500m mark

A clutch of contract wins saw civil engineering contractor Edmund Nuttall's turnover rise to nearly £500 million in 2004.
The firm saw sales rise 8 per cent from £455 million to £492 million following the award of two major framework deals from Cheshire County Council and South West Water.

Nuttall also won three ECI road schemes from the Highways Agency and the Barnstaple bypass from Devon County Council - leaving the company with a healthy £655 million order book.

Pre-tax profits rose marginally to £20.3 million from £19.9 million in 2003, with margins at 4.1 per cent.

Directors recommended a dividend of £7 million.
