Olympic handball venue up for grabs

The Olympic Delivery Authority has begun the search for one of the last major construction deals on the Olympic Park.

More than 150 businesses attended an ODA industry day yesterday to hear the ODA’s plans for the Handball Arena, the contract for which was advertised today.

The arena will host handball during the Olympic Games and Goalball during the Paralympic Games.
In legacy, it will become a multi-sports venue with a flexible seating capacity to enable it hold a wide range of indoor sports training and local to international competitions and events.

The design team, Make Architects with PTW along with Ove Arup, are currently working up concept designs.

A builder is due to be appointed early next year with work starting on site by the summer.
