DRAKE & SCULL

The specialist engineering services firm has made two new appointments. Robert Devey joins as regional general manager for the Midlands region from Crown House Engineering, for which he managed the major projects division. Keith Banbury has been appointed operations manager, reporting to Mr Devey. He also previously worked for Crown House.

A H BALL

The pipelaying contractor has promoted Wilf Green to the position of managing director. Mr Green has been with the firm since 1986, when he joined as a contracts manager.

TARMAC

The heavy building materials and construction services firm has taken on Robert Osborne as head of its private finance and facilities management operations. Mr Osborne joined the firm in 1982 and spent last year on a 12-month secondment heading up the Department of Health's Private Finance Unit.

ST DAVID

The Cowbridge-based house builder has made Steve Baldwinson construction director. He joins the firm from HBG Higgs & Hill, for which he was a construction manager for South Wales.

AMBION BRICK

Gareth Roberts has become business development director of the brick firm formed earlier this

year by the £53 million buy-out from Ibstock and Redland. He previously worked for Hanson Brick as a director.

RMC GROUP

There have been two changes to the board at the building materials firm. Stuart Walker, an executive director, has been appointed deputy group chief executive. He has been with the group since 1971. Jurgen Himstedt has been made an executive director. Mr Himstedt will remain chairman of the board of management of Readymix AG (RMA), the German subsidiary. He has held this post since 1996. RMA covers the firm's operations in Germany, Denmark, The Netherlands, Latvia and Poland.

VOLVO CONSTRUCTION

The construction equipment arm of the car manufacturer has made two new appointments to its management team following the promotion of Chris Rees to the position of senior vice president Europe. Bob Watterson has been promoted to managing director of the UK operation from his position as national sales manager. Product support general manager Norman Masey will join him as deputy managing director.

BINNIE BLACK & VEATCH

The engineering construction firm has appointed Lawrence Hughes as managing director. He was formerly managing director of the water and environmental group Gibb.

WILDGOOSE CONSTRUCTION

The Derbyshire-based construction outfit has made two internal promotions. Graham Barber takes over as managing director from his current post as contracts director. Tim Walker, senior contracts manager, will replace him as contracts director.
