City Place will become the new Central Business Quarter in the heart of Chester, with prime office space on a 3.5-acre site near the city’s historic railway station.
Muse Developments has appointed Seddon to deliver One City Place, a six-storey, 70,000 sq ft Grade A office building which will be the cornerstone of the new development.
Around 30 school children from local schools were joined by City of Chester MP Stephen Mosley in taking a tour of the site.
Pupils got to meet and chat with a current apprentice, and took part in a competition to design, finance and market their very own development.
Brooklyn Ryder, Year 10 pupil at Leek High School, said: “Today really made me think about construction as a future job.
“I was very surprised about how well it pays.
“It was interesting to go on site and see how it runs.”
Seddon project manager Chris Ellison said: “Campaigns like Open Doors and Born to Build are vital in helping people get a better understanding of what it means to work in our industry.
“Seddon has been a long-time campaigner for attracting more young people into the sector and delivering high quality training, so it is great to see so many school children on site and taking an interest in how amazing developments like City Place come about, and their career options for the future.”
Muse Developments development director Phil Mayall said: “The Open Doors event has been a great opportunity to welcome schools and budding construction workers to the City Place site so that they can see behind the hoardings for the first time.
We are currently halfway through construction and right on track for completion in November 2015, when we look forward to launching the new development to the business community.”
