UTC puts skills on show while still under construction

The Humber UTC is part of a new breed of secondary education that will prepare young people (aged 14 to 19) for careers in the fast-growing renewables industry.

The new purpose-built facility will consist of teaching space housed within a modern envelope.

Humber UTC is one of just 50 university technical colleges being developed across the UK.

In partnership with many of the region’s biggest employers and organisations, the UTC will connect education and industry to equip students aged 14 to 19 with the skills, qualifications and experience to pursue careers in the engineering and science sectors, particularly for the fast-growing renewables industry.

This fast-track scheme which commenced in July 2014 will be completed for the start of the 2015 academic year and is located in the centre of the town, in close proximity to a number of iconic public facilities.

One visitor said: “It was a well-planned visit, with excellent guides, really positive about going into the industry”
