O'Rourke rivals Skanska for £200m Newham BSF

Two private sector consortia have been successfully shortlisted to go through to the final stage of bidding for Newham Council’s £200 million Building Schools for the Future.

Laing O'Rourke will go up against Skanska UK after Miller Construction has been eliminated from the bidding competition.

The programme will see four schools completely rebuilt and nine remodelled and refurbished.
Construction work is scheduled to start next year and will continue until 2014.

A preferred bidder will be named in early 2008.
