Over £12.5m worth of work shelved in East Anglia

The rate of East Anglia building projects being shelved by clients showed signs of slowing down in the week to October 30, but still amounted to £12.5m worth of work.

According to research by Emap Glenigan on behalf of Construction News, 11 projects were cancelled in East Anglia in the week – down 27 per cent on the week before.

Nationwide, over £2bn worth of projects were shelved by clients with almost half coming from London.

With 208 jobs scrapped nationwide in the week, the total number of jobs shelved fell 2 per cent week-on-week. But with London’s massive £979.5 billion worth of jobs scrapped, the total value percentage of mothballed jobs nationwide was 28 per cent up.
