Pair to share window and roof repairs

CONTRACTS LONDON

TWO FIRMS will share a £40 million housing repairs package in east London.

The cabinet at Hackney Borough Council has approved contractors Connaught and Apollo to carry out the first third of its programme to bring up to standard 19,500 homes among the authority's 27,000-strong stock by 2010.

The two contractors will upgrade the windows and roofs of 6,700 council properties over 18 months. Work is due to begin in April.

The deal is worth an estimated £22 million to Connaught as the firm's specialist concrete repair division will carry out work on homes in Apollo's area as well.
