Cranes-to-earthmovers manufacturer Liebherr is spending £130 million on a factory in Russia that will produce plant components and machines. The first, £40 million phase will see construction equipment being built from mid2007. Rival Hitachi has announced it is building an £80 million parts factory in Japan, starting in August 2007, which will increase excavator parts capacity by 20 per cent and loader parts capacity by 60 per cent.
