Pavement team tests recycled aggregates

MATERIALS

RESEARCHERS will boost the use of recycled aggregates in road construction with a pioneering project that will test the performance of hydraulically bound materials.

The research project, sponsored by green promotional body Wrap, will see a team of specialists from Tarmac, Scott Wilson Pavement Engineering and researcher TRL explore the use of recycled aggregates in HBMs for use in road foundations and lower base layers.

Dr Nizar Ghazireh, Tarmac research manager, claimed the project will try to relate HBMs' performance to highways design specifications.
