Pearson leaves as construction minister

Ian Pearson is to leave his post as construction minister to become economic secretary to the Treasury.

Mr Pearson, who had previously been minister of state for climate change at the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, only took over the position of economic and business minister with construction as part of his portfolio, in October 2008.

It has not been confirmed yet who will be Mr Pearson successor, but whoever takes on the construction brief will be the ninth construction minister since 2001.
