HAYMILLS: Martin Clarke has been appointed executive chairman of Haymills Contractors Holdings and chairman of Haymills (Contractors). Mr Clarke, 55, was formerly a senior partner with accountant Touche Ross. He joined the Haymills board in 1984 and succeeds John Woodhouse, who is retiring after 35 years with the firm. Mr Woodhouse will remain a non- executive director of the holding company.
THOMAS VALE: The contractor has strengthened its main board by making Richard Morris a director. Mr Morris, 44, is managing director of Fitzgerald Contractors, the Birmingham-based civil engineering subsidiary.
JCB: Guy Robinson has rejoined as director and general manager of JCB Landpower, manufacturer of the JCB Fastrac tractor. He joins the company from Wordsworth Holdings, for which he was head of Barford Site Dumpers and managing director of Sanderson Teleporters. Mr Robinson previously worked for JCB Materials Handling between 1984 and 1988.
NEWMAN TONKS: Chris Hughes has been appointed group chairman, replacing Doug Rogers, who has retired after 17 years. Mr Hughes, 53, is a partner with solicitor Wragge and Co of Birmingham.
EUROPEAN CONSTRUCTION INSTITUTE: Terry Lazenby has been elected chairman of the ECIs programme committee, which is responsible for implementing and monitoring the institutes programme of work. Mr Lazenby is chief engineer for BP International and chairman of the board of the British Pipeline Agency. He is also a senate member of the Engineering Council.
FINNING: Bernard Auton has joined the UK Caterpillar dealer as head of its materials handling division. He was previously with Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America as sales and marketing development consultant responsible for identifying areas of profitable new business. While there, he helped develop Caterpillars fleet management services.
